Venture Capital Firm
This global firm prides itself on its active involvement with its investment companies. Focusing on high-tech start-ups as well as established enterprises, the firm develops long-term relationships and stays very close to its portfolio clients. Physical proximity to its client partners in the Bay Area’s booming tech market was the key driver in the development of a new San Francisco office for the firm.
The work style supported by the new office echoes the preferences of its technology clients – flexible, collaborative, and transparent. The design team worked closely with company stakeholders to establish a design language that expresses understated elegance paired with a warm, hospitable vibe. This space is primarily focused on the visitor experience. A concierge style reception area immediately establishes a sense of arrival and a social setting with comfortable seating and an expansive view of the city’s changing skyline.
Solid hemlock timbers provide a warm and natural counterpoint to sleek white walls and exposed concrete floors. Extensive glass surfaces at offices and conference rooms highlight the great views and distribute daylighting throughout the office. A central pantry area features a bar height table for eating lunch or to serve catered meals. It is also often used as an alternative workspace by staff. Offices are unassigned, and team members from the firm’s Palo Alto location as well as clients drop in frequently. A large board room – the pitch room – is neighbored by a more intimate meeting room conducive to closing the deal, a process the firm knows all too well.
