The Montgomery project is a conversion of an historic high-rise office building into one-hundred and seven residences. Huntsman worked closely with the developer and the San Francisco Planning Department to develop an appropriate design solution for this landmark building located in the heart of the business district. The project entailed an aggressive entitlement and approvals process including Planning Commission review and approval as well as Landmarks Advisory Board review and approvals.
The project included a seismic retrofit and complete renovation of the building's interior and building systems. Residences incorporate contemporary interiors, with units ranging from junior one bedroom to two bedroom plus accommodations. In addition, Huntsman designed a new penthouse level with common outdoor space and four luxury modern residential units. The project received full support from the San Francisco Urban Research and Planning Institute and San Francisco Heritage and approval from the Landmarks Commission.
