Sonoma State University Baseball Training Facility
In developing a design for a new baseball training facility for Sonoma State University, Huntsman was able to balance functionality and green design principles within a limited budget that relieved SSU from needing to seek supplemental state funding. The project consists of two phases. The first phase is the building shell, roof and skin. The second phase will develop another floor to house the coach’s office, a team room, storage, vertical access and modifications to the roof to provide a balcony overlooking the baseball diamond. The structure will also incorporate design features to reduce the pre-fabricated appearance. The roof will feature a clerestory to allow filtered natural daylight and the cladding materials will provide for natural ventilation into the batting cages.
