Ritz-Carlton Fitness Center
With the goal of providing more fitness space for its hotel guests, The Ritz-Carlton’s plans were to infill its existing pool and expand the footprint of its exercise floor to accommodate more equipment. The pool and adjacent spa were drained and covered with a high-density foam decking system to support the load of treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, and weight machines. Due to the below ground level and lack of windows, Huntsman developed design schemes that focused on creating a light, modern space. The proposed modifications include removal of molding and the replacement of decorative sconces with contemporary lighting fixtures that create lighting quality close to natural daylight. To minimize costs, the design team suggested limiting new construction and the demolition of existing walls.
