Private Residence
The key in transforming this Desert Style Palm Springs residence built in 1938, was to modernize its functionality and efficiency while preserving its authentic architectural feel. In collaboration with the homeowner, the team set out to create a residence that caters to a modern lifestyle, promotes the client’s eco-conscious values, and respectfully embraces the property’s history.
The solution involved streamlining circulation and functional spaces within the home, significantly opening the structure to the exterior landscape and vistas, and creating new outdoor living spaces including a pool and spa. Greatly increasing the energy efficiency of the home, solar power and modern HVAC systems are complemented by unobtrusive whole-house automation controls for environmental, audio-visual, lighting, and security systems. The result is a truly unique home that blends a commitment to preserving history while adding twenty-first century sustainability and efficiency. The project supports the client’s modern lifestyle and embraces the beautiful landscape and terrain of Palm Springs. |
