A common thread in the design of today’s corporate workplaces, including law firms, as well as educational settings is a focus on community and engagement. It’s no surprise then, that for PLI - a nonprofit organization that helps attorneys and legal professionals with ongoing learning and pro bono responsibilities – these were critical values in re-envisioning their New York facility.

Initial workplace strategy efforts including workshops, interviews, and surveys led the design team and client to define what the space should offer beyond functionality: Reinforcing the organization’s mission and brand, flexibly anticipating future needs, and most of all, a place where employees feel productive, engaged, and connected.
The resulting design offers a choice of environments to support individual work styles. Reconfigurable spaces and adjustable furnishings allow for further customization, while hospitality-inspired touches, such as adjustable drapery and cozy seating clusters, enhance the sense of comfort and professionalism.
PLI’s brand identity is expressed through a striking red communal table, thoughtfully placed to be both welcoming and impactful. This focal point embodies the organization’s vision by inviting interaction and collaboration and creating a strong sense of place.
