When expanding to a new facility on multiple upper floors in a New York high rise, UK-based financial investment software company Fidessa challenged the design team to retain much of the planning philosophy from its headquarters. Within this alternative workplace scenario, conference and server rooms are the only spaces that are both fixed and enclosed, while most of the floor plan relies on flexibility and openness to support a collaborative workstyle.

Considering the company’s rapid rate of growth, the design offers a partition-free workplace that lends itself to inexpensive and efficient modifications over time. The openness and expansiveness of the floors, from the core to the arced glass facade of the building, is further enhanced by spectacular views over New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.
