This feature animation production facility included a comprehensive building renovation of a former warehouse and commercial bakery. Due to sublease commitments, the interior improvements were completed in phases over seven years. The challenge for the design team was to implement the vision of the initial master plan while taking into consideration the evolution of the client’s needs and work style.

The design scheme is centered on an expansive employee lounge area crowned by a 24-foot high saw-tooth ceiling with skylights. Radiating from this central hub are screening and editing rooms, conference rooms, a fitness center, and art studios Office areas are located in outlying neighborhoods and a large data center provides production support. Much like an urban master plan, this layout draws building occupants to the center and encourages creative interaction.
