Mare Island Barracks
Originally built in 1917 as barracks for the Marine Corps, Building M-037 was acquired in 2002 by Lennar Communities along with other property on Mare Island for redevelopment. The scope of work will convert a historic building into modern residential units. This will include a complete renovation of the building's interior and exterior refurbishment as well as a seismic retrofit of the four-story masonry and timber structure. New building engineering systems such as mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems will be included in the renovation, and parking will be accommodated in the basement level. New windows will be added to the western facade to provide sweeping vistas of the San Pablo Bay.
