Located on a 40,000 square foot hillside parcel, this 1930s Arts and Crafts home consists of more than 3,000 square feet. After several earlier renovation schemes, the homeowner retained Huntsman to modify the design of an interior renovation of the original house with a new addition consisting of 1,000 square feet. The addition includes a master bedroom, kitchen and dining room as well as a new basement and site for mechanical equipment. Outdated single-paned windows were replaced with new double-paned energy efficient, solid hardwood windows throughout the entire home. The kitchen, dining area and butler pantries were outfitted with top-of-the-line cabinetry. The kitchen opens up to an expanded exterior deck alongside an existing pool and takes advantage of the direct on-view site lines of scenic Mt. Tamalpais. This patio also includes a west facing grilling station adjacent to board-formed, cast concrete terraced landscape herb gardens. The site will benefit from environmentally-friendly features such as rainwater collection tanks and drought-tolerant terraced landscaping.
