Dolby Laboratories
Huntsman recently supported Dolby Laboratories with the planning and design of an office expansion at 475 Brannan Street. As a result of a comprehensive visioning and sustainability charrette, the project team and user groups defined the need for a design direction that reflects the company's modern values of technical innovation and collaboration within the context of the fiscal, environmental, and social responsibility. Over the years, Dolby Laboratories has grown from its roots in sound engineering into an international, publicly traded company with a variety of products and services. Likewise, the staff has undergone a transformation from traditional sound engineers to tech-savvy designers, programmers, and creative employees. This new facility presents an opportunity to reflect this cultural evolution. The plan configuration places open workstations at the perimeter to provide daylight for all of the staff and to save energy.
Private offices wrap around the core and anchor a centrally-located conference center with video-conferencing and presentation technology. Huntsman also provided assistance in developing initial project pricing at multiple intervals during the design phases, to guarantee alignment of the proposed solutions with Dolby's overall project cost guidelines and highly accelerated schedule.
