Accounting Manager

The base salary will be estimated between $78k - $82k plus benefits and discretionary bonuses and contingent on relevant experience.

About the Role

The Accounting Manager oversees and manage the general accounting functions including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Project Accounting and Payroll. The Accounting Manager primarily reports to the Director of Finance and indirectly to the CFO and oversees one or more Accounting Specialists.

Responsibilities

Meet financial accounting objectives. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.


Assign projects and direct accounting staff to ensure compliance and accuracy

Provide recommendations to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.


General Accounting Functions

  • Manage General Ledger functions

  • Process and monitor Accounts Payable and reconcile with appropriate cost centers

  • Monitor receivables and payments

  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions

  • Processing and reconcile expense reports and company credit cards

Management of Project Accounting Activities

  • Oversee monthly draft invoice production and issuance, adherence to individual contract terms

  • Oversee project compliance with contract signature and filing protocols

  • Review timesheet records and reports

  • Prepare Project Progress Summaries and customized reports as requested periodically by clients, Project Managers, or management

  • Oversees/provide quality control of project initialization process

  • Maintain logs of monthly contracted fee levels

  • Support on-going implementation of new PM software with the goal of transferring project related capabilities and processes to PM users.

Management of Payroll Activities

  • Track, manage and report salaries and other compensation, voluntary and involuntary deductions and withholding, benefits, and PTO usage, accruals, and balances.

  • Interface with HR to update and maintain compensation adjustments

  • Interface with HR and Finance departments to prepare annual 401K and ESOP Census Data

  • Oversee regulatory Federal and State payroll reporting compliance and mandates as required

Support of Finance Activities and Initiatives

  • As required including participation in year-end Financial Reporting, and audits related to the administration of:

  • Employee Retirement Plans including the 401K and ESOP

  • Annual Policy Renewals including but not limited to Professional Liability, Group Life Insurance, Employment Practices, General Liability and Workman's Comp Policies

Support of HR Activities and Initiatives

  • Participate in recruiting and integration of new Accounting staff

  • Participate in employee development, training, and performance reviews

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate well with all members of the firm, vendors, and clients both verbally and in writing

  • Thorough understanding of basic accounting concepts and full-cycle accounts payable & accounts receivable

  • Proficiency with Office 365 and accounting software. Experience with Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus

  • Strong time management and organization skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage others

  • Able to work with a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong ability to prioritize and follow through, meet deadlines, and complete tasks in a timely manner within a dynamic work environment

  • Research and analytical skills

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance

  • 5+ Years of Employment with Professional Services Corporation, including supervisory experience

  • Advanced computer skills and experience with MS Office, database management, accounting software (Deltek Vision and/or VantagePoint experience highly preferred)

  • Experience with payroll programs, preferably ADP Workforce Now
