Caltrans Districts 2 and 5 Headquarters
Huntsman and its team of consultants evaluated headquarters buildings for Caltrans’ Districts 2 and 5, located in Redding and San Luis Obispo. The team evaluated building history and preservation criteria, fire and life safety systems, mechanical/electrical/plumbing building systems, ADA compliance, geotechnical systems, and provided FEMA evaluation of structural elements, provided retrofit schemes, analyzed roofing and waterproofing systems, identified hazardous materials, and provided cost estimation and scheduling services for more than 100,000gsf of offices.

This project includes the development of a program for the District 2 office personnel and the development of a conceptual site plan and building block plans that utilize division and unit adjacencies to enhance workflow and productivity. The project also includes a cost estimate of the construction and personnel relocation costs involved in renovating the existing District 2 office building and constructing an addition of sufficient size to accommodate all of the District 2 office personnel.
