CA Statewide Seismic Program
Huntsman worked with Rutherford & Chekene Engineers who were the Prime Consultant on the San Quentin Building 22 Seismic Retrofit Project, a part of the State Seismic Building Program. Architectural services included re-planning user groups within the building after seismic retrofit and code compliance improvements to the historic building. The project also included planning temporary facilities for the relocation of major user-groups (ISU, R&R, Education, Administration, San Quentin TV and Hobby Program) that occupied the building to various modular buildings and existing structures within the institution. Huntsman worked with Fuller, Coe & Associates to program the user-groups affected by the relocation. An exterior needs assessment was performed to determine the deficiencies in the exterior envelope that were not included within the primary seismic retrofit project for Building 22, but were beneficial in reversing ongoing deterioration and in addressing deferred maintenance items.
