Venture Capital Firm
For this investment firm, collaborating with start-up companies goes beyond the initial seed and venture stage funding. It sees its unique strength as developing growth strategies for partners in software, high tech, clean tech, biotech, and healthcare. Initially tasked with the redesign of the main boardroom, Huntsman worked with the client to look at the entire building and identify ways to re-orient spaces to better engage partners. Huntsman proposed to relocate the existing boardroom and, in its place, create a training room that can double as a much needed all-hands meeting room. Looking at ways to utilize the exterior, the design team opened the training room to a terrace that serves as an outdoor retreat and meeting space. The new boardroom improves the experience of arrival and privacy for visitors who come to pitch new start-up business concepts; the adjacent lobby and reception share a secured vestibule. Huntsman proposed a new skylight to bring daylight into the building core and help meet the client’s Living Building Challenge objectives.
Regionally sourced reclaimed wood, ceramic tile, artwork, and other finishes further demonstrate the client’s ties with local business partners and its commitment to building sustainability. In alignment with its holistic approach to design and the end users’ well-being, the office was awarded LEED-CI Platinum certification, as well as all materials in the selected finishes and furniture comply with the Living Building Challenge’s Red List restricting products with known harmful chemicals.
