Reed Smith
Law Office Renovation and Restack
Oakland, CA
As part of an office remodel, Huntsman renovated five floors of office space
for Reed Smith's (formerly Crosby Heafey Roach & May) Oakland headquarters.
The design team developed a space-needs program projected forward five years,
accommodating the addition of 30 attorneys to the existing 100-attorney office,
while also achieving the client’s objective of increased rent efficiencies
by reducing its lease space requirements from 115,000 square feet to 90,000
square feet. Huntsman developed move plans to communicate the impact of the
year-long phased construction on the individual end-users. Program and occupant
load requirements expanded in the process, as demonstrated in the new library
which also serves as the firm’s conference center. Incorporating sustainable
design into the remodel, Huntsman brought daylighting into the lobbies and
core spaces through glass partition walls in conference and meeting rooms.
