Desert Commercial Bank, a new company that plans to specialize in commercial construction lending, retained Huntsman to design the interior of its new retail bank and investment offices. Noting the bank’s focus is to fund projects within the Coachella Valley, the design concept came from incorporating the regional influences of the desert and valley into a prototype design that would distinguish Desert Commercial from other financial institutions. Patrons are welcomed by a reception area and teller counters anchored by the bank vault which is faced in flagstone. Circulation along the rectangular plan is softened by curvilinear soffits and slate flooring and connects the public front of the bank to private offices located in the bank.
