Tolleson, a nationally recognized graphic design firm, approached the architect
with a simple design proposition: Design an office that made sense graphically
and three dimensionally without trend. No site had been selected and the architect
analyzed several locations before a space in an historic Jackson Square building
was recommended. A raw space with exposed materials, multiple skylights, and
few interior walls provided the right canvas for this collaboration. The client
wanted his new space to feel very open and serve as a neutral background for
creating and presenting the firm’s work. The building’s exposed brick and
timber ceiling give the space its texture while the new subtle colors complement
the design and contribute to the overall composition of materials and design
elements.
