AKQA is an award-winning, interactive media agency, originally based in London, but now headquartered in San Francisco. As part of the company’s re-organization, AKQA moved offices into the old Hills Brothers Building, which had recently been renovated for modern office use. AKQA desired a light and creative space in order to “dream big:” an idea that is reflected in the open ceiling and exposed rafters. The agency wanted to create a hospitable work space, yet still place the focus on its clients. Huntsman left historic building details intact, but contrasted them with modern finishes such as metal workstations, built-in lounge seating, built-in pin-up walls and a white epoxy floor. The result is a neutral canvas which allows the creative team to brand the space to its clients.
