DIRECTV
Lobbyist Office
Washington, D.C.

DIRECTV's Washington D.C. office serves as a strategic business tool, providing a facility for their lobbyists to interface with governmental adjacencies as well as support their work processes. DIRECTV's goals were to have the work space support its lobbying efforts, showcase new products, foster personal relations, have the public areas reinforce its brand and culture, and ultimately, create a hybrid environment of the legal and entertainment industries. The approach to the planning creates two distinct zones: public and private. Utilizing the most efficient use of the floorplate, the tenant space was divided into a public zone that can be closed for conferencing and opened for social events as well as a private zone that comprises of offices designed like residential studios that create a feeling of comfort for clients meeting with staff.

Highlighted with a graphic wall, the lobby showcases DIRECTV products and focuses on the latest technology in digital television programming and recording. The private offices feature built-in desks for personal research and reading, while leaving open space open for meeting tables and more casual seating. The choice of finishes was to build upon DIRECTV's prominent use of blue and its brand identity and incorporate wood flooring to relate to historic elements. An important focal point at the intersection of the zones is an open galley that serves as both café and bar for employees and visitors.
