333 Grant Avenue
Seismic Retrofit & Historic Building Renovation
San Francisco, CA
Originally built in 1908 as the Home Telephone Company Headquarters, this
steel frame structure with sandstone cladding underwent a major seismic retrofit
as the building changed ownership and function. Huntsman Architectural Group
was hired to renovate this high-rise building designed by Coxhead and Coxhead
and noted as a San Francisco Historic Landmark, and convert the switching
and call center spaces into a modern mixed-use retail and office building.
The project involved close coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical
systems; accessibility and code upgrades; and extensive Building and Planning
Department interface.
