Presidio Building 35
Historic Building Renovation, Adaptive Re-use and Tenant Development
San Francisco, CA
Building 35 was originally constructed in 1912 as U.S. Army barracks. Huntsman Architectural Group designed a renovation of the building for modern office use and the offices for WR Hambrecht + Co., an investment banking firm. Building 35’s historic character was restored while new technologies and systems were installed. The open porch, cornice, and balconies were restored to resemble the building’s appearance in the 1930’s, and a concrete shear wall solved a seismic solution without disrupting the building’s fabric. The new office includes a trading area, extensive data and telecommunications cabling, supplemental cooling, acoustics, and uninterruptible services.
